Just got back from the lfs where i bought 3 live plants, 2 cherry barbs and 2 rummynose tetra

i put the plants in andthen floated the fish bag for a good while temps matched so slowly put the fish in. the Cherrys hid but seem fine now but the rummynose tetras one is hiding whilethe other is lying on its sidebreathing but not swimming.

all my water stats are as you would expect.

Is it the shock of the move do you think.

Gonna leave the tank in peace untill tonight an re access the rummynose.

are they a delicate fish??

thank you

Is your pet store quite a bit away from you? Maybe the ph levels are different or maybe its just the shock of moving thats knocked this one. Hopefully some peace and quiet will help and if it dies get in contact with your pet shop.
You should quarantine new fish before adding to a main tank.

Rummy nose tetras are quite sensitive, they also like to be in groups of 6+ did you already have some or are they on their own? They are one of the most tightly schooling tetras around and don't do well in small groups. I had a group of 12 but lost 3 when i moved house, them and the ottos were the only fish that seemed stressed by the move and their new tank, that was back in January and they have settled in well again. The one on it's side doesn't sound too good. It is said that rummy nose tetras will tell you how good your water quality is as their noses fade if it is poor and glow bright red if it is good.

hi guys

thanks for the replys

I know about quarentine but i dont have a spare tank so i always have to take the risk of adding them.

the fish store is litterally a 2 min car journey away and has the same water as my house

they are fine now swimming around and look healthy i think it must of been the shock.

Thanks again
