New Platy

I bought a new platy today....white with a few black speckles on the tail.....almost looks translucent when looking at it in the tank....

I asked for a healthy female....the LFS person caught it for me....I looked for fin damage and white spot then said "Thats great thanks" then they bagged it up and off I went.

Got home, put it in my quar tank and hours later told the BF. He looks and says "Umm, your female platy has a penis" so I looked thinking he must be looking at the wrong thing.....and he was right...SHE IS A BOY!!! I didn't want another male platy So I rang the LFs to see if I could swap him for a female....they said the only way they swap fish is if they die. I am not going to kill the poor little thing to get a new fish

Anywho....he is beautiful and has the exact colours I was after (white and white )

Hopefully he will breed with some of my girls....he'd better...it appears my other males are sterile

He sounds gorgeous but GRR to the lfs for giving you the wrong sex. Its really difficult for us to check what they have in the bag as they flash it at you so quickly and say "is that ok?"

Lets hope you get some babies off him soon

I will get pics tomorrow, fish behaviour pending.

I guess I should have checked if it was male or female but I trusted her to give me a female...I was concerned about the health more....

Unless, like most LFS owners she can't trell the difference!!!

Yes, he is beautiful. I will call him Rudolph
