Here is my new male. At first I thought it was a prego female :p . So I have two females and one male. Would that be ok?
How often will they breed, how long until birth, and how many per batch? I have a two year old white micky platy and a ~5 month old new platy.

I breed lots of livebearers and the one you have bought are not new, they are called diffrent names all over the country but near where i live we call them, high fin tuxedo platy's

I always stick to the rule of having 4 females to every male, that way they wont get bothered much by male.

As for how often they breed, this will be between 4-6 weeks for most livebearers. (endlers between 17-24 days)

You can get anywhere from 10-150 fry but generally you tend to get around 30-50 most of the time, depends on the size of the fish.

The most one of mine has had was a extra large balloon molly which had 124 fry.

Hope this helps you.

Here is one of my, tiger platys having babies :)

Looks like a male to me.
I agree with the above post, get another female or two. I have only one male with my 3 female platy and one male molly to my 5 other female.
Love the mirror image pic! The last pic, I have one of those, real pretty.
Good luck!

5Teady, great video! I've been keeping fish for a couple years now and had yet to see one give birth. That was pretty neat!

Definitely a male. See the gap between gonopodium and the base of the tail? If it was a female with clamped fins, this would not be visible. Also, the pelvic fins are flowing. I have seen females that clamp their fins and look like males, but never with the anal fin clamped and all the other fins relaxed. I have a male with a great fat potbelly and he chases the females around the tank. I have 8 females to one male. Admittedly it's a strain tank (an OVERSTOCKED strain tank) and he's a pretty good example of the strain so I want them all bred to him. But still, he's lucky!

Thanks, I took him out of the tank for him to relax 4 a while. I gonna clean the tank today to as u can see its dirty  :p. Then put him back.
