New Platy With Broken Tail/spine

Ok so another fish has been pecking at him.

yeah, i might rid the plastc cave and make a rock cave(large) instead he uses it simetimes but its too open to the public for him to be protected by, however the broken spine finds cover nect to the fake plants(sometimes its impossible to find her)

hes missing like half scales now hes pretty bad looking, lol karma got him... ill control the situation as best i can, btw, what about addding lettuce to the tank as an added veggie to their diet, peas dotn work, i tried alot

How many gallons is the tank and have you recently tested for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and ph?

i dont do testing( no more money) however they have been thriving(nearly no casses of fin clamp or death) its a 10 gallon

Don't put that fish out of it's misery ... I have a fish thats got a broken back (it was my fault ... he was really in a bad way a couple of weeks after I got him in november of last year and as he's a danio he was too hard to cacth and I hurt him ... he recovered but I had damaged his back in the chase) and he's been fine for almot a year.

Check out this video of him ... his name is Bendy, I wouldn't get rid of him for the world.

p.s. you have to be a member of myspace to view it ...

It was the fact that he said the fish looked in pain, why i said it.

or bless him he looks weird, glad your made it, but don't mean to sound awful but every case is different, and like i said it was the fact that he said the fish looked in pain.

it's the problem though with animals .. they can't talk to tell you whats wrong with them ... if they are scared, hurt, hungry, angry, or feeling any other way

You can tell, i watch my fish for hours and i can tell the way they act, you get to know them and you will know if they are stressed and in pain, i also look at there eyes as that can tell you a lot.

wilders right i took the poor girl back to the lfs where they put her in the back room(noobs there told me it was a growth) she couldnot get the food she needed although was VERY smart, my replacement fish died of unknown causes he body lied on the gravel and her sidefin was greenish yellow...(shes white)

The replacement fish died, Did you climatise her right, what was the ph of he lfs to your tank.
Don't mean to sound awful but they way i wanted you to end her misery, as i don't trust lfs doing the right thing for her.

iknow, i dont know what the PH is but she had a chipped whitecovered fin the night before, i thought it was just lfs abuse i missed

Was the fin fraying sounds like bacterial finrot.
The best advice i can give you is try and find someone who breeds livebearers, as half the time there in ill health at the lfs and are already on the way out when you are buying them.

yeah but ive had plenty of this but they all recovered fully....

The problem is you dont know the params of your tank so you dont know what the conditions are you are putting new fish in to.
