 Hi every one can anybody advise me on how to clean new plants befor they go into my tank, i dont want any nasties being introduced, i know the mail order guy is very good but prevention is better than cure.

some say 1:10 bleach dip for 1 minute is good, but I've never had any problems with just gently scrubbing the leaves with my fingers over running water at room temp. Also be sure to prune all the dead and dying foliage before introducing into the tank.

Pots: it's ok to keep the plants in the pots but again, gently removing the rockwool from the roots under running water will ensure the plant's roots have ample room to grow and thrive.

I use potassium permanganate. You can get it from a chemist. I fill a bucket of water and add enough to make it pale pink. I then leave the plants in for about 5 minutes and then rinse them thoroughly before putting them in the tank.
