today at my lps i bought some plants, the problem is one of them is an aluminum plant, which i have heard is not aquatic and anothe is a water lettuce which i like but it has heaps of roots which is way to big for the 4 gal betta tank i was planning on putting it in and it looks ugly in my 39 gal coz is has a hood and you can't see the top.

**EDIT** would i be able to cut off most of the roots of the water lettuce so it fits in my betta tank, or would it kill the plant?

I googled the "aluminum plant" and azgardens sells it as a paludarium plant, so it's probably not a true aquatic.

As for the water lettuce roots, yes you could probably trim them and it wouldn't harm the plant too much, although the roots may grow back.

ok ill trim the roots back a bit, and ill leave the aluminium plant in there and see how it goes, its been in there three days so far and has no signt of rotting....yet
