going shopping tommorrow to treat my tank to some new plants but i need your advise !! all plants i've bought in the past i've de - potted and planted and they've been fine but plants that come in bunches with lead weights i've taken off the lead and planted, is this how everyone else does it cos my fish seem to dig up such plants like cabonda that don't grow roots !! i go to bed with a nicely planted setup and wake up in the morning with alot of them floating on the surface !!

all advise appreciated

cheers

charlton !!

Usually you remove the lead weights from the cuttings and plant the cutting in the gravel. You need to carefully push the cuttings into the gravel so you don't damage the stem. The cutting need to be at least an inch in the gravel.
Some people leave the weights on while the plants are establishing their root systems.
You can also plats the cuttings in pots for a month and then take them out and put in the gravel once they have developed a root ball.
