New Plants With Wee Metal Bit Round Them

Got some plants from an LFS, should I remove the wee metal ring and foam holding them together, keep it, or doesn't it matter?

Yes remove it then plant the stem into the substrate, they're used in shops to weigh them down when they cannot be planted.

make sure to post up pictures of the plants you got, some shops sell non-aquatic plants as suitable for tanks.
