Java fern amazon, not sure what the others are. How do I plant then if I don't put them in the sand? I put them a little deeper because the fish tend to dig then upLooks good but I question the planting. All the plants look to be buried in the substrate and this can be an issue with plants that have a rhizome. Give a list of the plants and advice can be given as to if some should not be totally planted.
Anubias and java fern I usually anchor under a small or medium stone, one that lets water get to the roots but heavy enough to hold the plant downJava fern amazon, not sure what the others are. You either use glue to attach the plants to rocks or wood if the plants have a rhizome. Plants without a rhizome are fine to fully plant in the substrate but those with a rhizome will tend to rot if the rhizome is buried.Java fern amazon, not sure what the others are. Thanks what do you use for weightYou either use glue to attach the plants to rocks or wood if the plants have a rhizome. Plants without a rhizome are fine to fully plant in the substrate but those with a rhizome will tend to rot if the rhizome is buried.
While I have a few plants attached to rock or wood others are just weighted to hold them down. Once the roots establish in the substrate the weights can be removed.

I am using generic soft metal aquatic plant weights however I AM considering an experiment...Thanks what do you use for weight
That sounds like a great ideaI am using generic soft metal aquatic plant weights however I AM considering an experiment...I started my current tank with fake plants then went to fully live plants. All those fake plants have weighted bases.. These bases have a plastic insert to which the fake plant stems attach. I don't see why these bases, with the insert removed, could not easily be used for live plants. If you remove the insert you are left with a weight with a hole all the way through. Thread roots through the hole and it is done.
