I've got some new plants in my piranha tank..they are some long green and white grasses and some green/red broad leafed plants (sorry I don't know what they are called) I got them less than a week ago and they are already starting to die. I have a small problem with pond snails (also got some assassins to kill them) but I'm just wondering do I need to add any nutrients for them to thrive and actually look healthy?
Any advice would be great, also any tips on how to get rid of these horrible snails faster than the assassins I've got in there??
Thank you.

Hi can you possibly post a pic of the plants? from your description it sounds like they may not be true aquatics which means they will not last very long submerged, another test which usually works is if the plant can hold itself up whilst out of water it is not a true aquatic where as if it goes floppy it usually is.
Try to pick crush any snails you see in the tank to help the assasins out or perhaps get more assasins!

Many plants die off at first, just from being moved from their original location. Just remove any dead/melting leaves.

Usually plants that are variegated are not aquatic. A photo would indeed help in identifying it.

Leave the snails alone if you have assassins. They will take care of them shortly, and you don't want to remove their favorite food source!

Sorry I would post a pic but my camera on my phone has decided to break again tonight:-( but I did get them from my lfs sold as aquatic plants. The stems do hold up when I take the broad leaf plants out, but the leaves droop so im not sure.
Because it's a piranha tank I've got around 5x the amount of filtration needed for the average community tank, would this be a problem?
Thanks

Flow shouldn't really be a problem unless they're right in front of it. Did you get the names of the plants?

Many plants are sold as aquatic but are not.

Stupid question...
Where would I be able to find the names of the plants?

I thought you might have gotten tags on them from the LFS. Try googling "aquarium plants" then click on the images tag and see if you can find them.

No stupid questions here!

Ok, so I think the broad leaf might be a plant called red rubin although it doesn't look quite as red as the pictures, and I can't find the grass anywhere which is starting to make me think it isn't aquatic :-S I go to that shop alot so I will be having words ;-)
Also just thought it could be my 13'' pleco sucking on them :-S
Thank you.

Does it look anything like this?

No sorry, I will try to get some pictures in the morning if I manage to fix my phone:) it has white stems, dark green broad leaves with a red tinge around the edges of the leaf;-)leaf
Sorry for being awkward lol:)

Ended up just throwing out the broad leafed plants, they just melted away in just over a week, the grass seems to be going strong though:-D
Won't be buying them again:)
