new plant stems what should i do

Use stones to weigh them down. Looks good as well, if use them and make an outline around the plants... Just 3 or 4 select pieces for each plant, and it should look good! Sort of like a zen garden or something! :)
 
Tie them up in a bunch with fishing line, cotton thread, or even a ruber band. 5 or 6 to a bunch, depending on what plant you have I guess...After a few weeks when their root system is established, you can remove it or simply cut it off. That's what I did for my rotala indica, and it worked well...

dont use anthing tight - it will restrict the plant circulation and kill it.

we use plant weights (strips of soft 'lead') and loosely wrap it around the base.

If the plant is a floater. loosly secure it with fishing line to a sucker on the side.
