I bought a new piece of driftwood and a small anubias for my betta tank! I boiled the driftwood for four hours before scrubbing it down and I dipped the plant just to be safe. :)

Wow, 4 hours of boiling wood, guess it must be hard boiled by now..... :p

Must mention that I have never boiled wood at all, a good scrub with a small wire brush and pour a couple of kettle full of boiling water to rinse it if and help to get rid of any nasties.

You mention you dipped the plant. In what? Bleach/peroxide? Hope this was diluted with water but Anubis are pretty hardy plants so hopefully it should be fine.

General rule of dipping is a ratio of 19:1 water to bleach. Some plants will not be able to survive a dip in undiluted bleach. Oh and you must rinse the plant well with water after the dip, you don't really want any bleach in the tank water.

But the tank looks good and lovely light coloured betta you have :)

Well the LFS I got the wood from had snails and snail eggs on it. I actually boiled a snail to death when I tossed it in the pot. I wanted to be very, very thorough. I gave it a good scrubing too. And yes I used regular bleach mixed in with water and I dipped the plant for about 1 minute 30 seconds before rinsing it and tossing it into a separate bucket of treated water to soak. I also put more water conditioner in the tank right after I placed the wood/plant combo just in case :D

Oh and thanks, that's Susan, he seemed pretty interested when I help my phone up to the tank!
