Absolutely Bueatiful! I am imensly jealous, and you should be proud! If only i get ahold of some Apistos like that, yet, apistos at all! Since my fav lfs closed down, the only selection i ahve for fish is Petsmart, and that is little to none.

Lovely fish mate, apistogramma are my fave dwarf cichlid. That triple red is awesome mate, reminds me of the big male I once had. Is that a Jewel background BTW? Looks V nice indeed.

How long do apistos live? mine never lived past 12 months, though I think that was due to some fault of mine

The background is made by Pangea.

I believe the life expectancy is 3-5 years, but like anything else depends on water and tank conditions.

Something people do not consider about a fish's health is stress. Stress can account for susceptibility of diseases and immunity. Stress can come from many sources including not having the right tankmates or type of environment for the fish. For example, if a type of fish likes and needs hiding places and you provide none, that fish will live his life stressed out greatly diminishing his life span.

I think published life expectancies are for optimal conditions.
