saw this fella in my lfs today . just HAD to buy him lol. pics aint too good yet as he is still hiding in the roots where its dark. will get some beter ones once he settles in
yeah ive seen them called squeaker catfish on some sites. yes cheesyfeet i had heard they could be territorial but i have recently thinned out my cichlids therefore freeing up a fair bit of territory in the tank. the remaining stock is easily robust enough to live with it and so far all is well altho granted its only been 24 hours . plus lately i have developed a bit of a thing for catfish when this guy has all his fins fanned out hes beautiful . hes about 5 1/2 to 6 inches . he was 15 quid dont know if thats a good price or not as ive never seen em in lfs before .
Not bad, could get them cheaper elsewhere but that would mean more petrol money I suppose!
I have a pair in my 100gal at 7 1/2"-8" and they are constantly nibbling on my (most the time it isn't even territorial) pearsei, luckily she's a beast.
im loving him already much less shy than any other catfish ive had before. he is in a 100 uk gallon tank with south american cichlids and a shoal of tiger barbs . lovely fish quite active and inquisitive settled in well and is feeding well. i could of spent a fortune in there lol they had some seriously sexy fish in there . i only went in for dechlorinator too and came out with this guy
oooh i used to have one of them... absolutley went mad when i did a water change, used to love playing in the cold water, him and a hopolo... nutters!!
thanks shelagh. he seems to have quite an inquisitive nature but is still abit unsure as hes only been in the tank a little over 24 hours but it seems like hopefully he could become quite an interactive fish . im really pleased with him .
