I went to the North Dallas Aquarium this weekend and found some new little loves. I adore gobies and gudgeons but nowhere around here carries them, so I was SO excited to see these guys. I got a trio hoping to get a pair out of them... can anyone sex them by any chance? More pics to come, for now this was all I could get before they went to hide in the back

Wow! Those are some great peacock gudgeons you got. I'm thinking about getting a few. You wouldn't mind sharing a picture of the tank.
:D

Beautiful little guys and relatively easy to breed. Male peacocks will have a much larger head or a hump on their head while the females will have large rounded yellow bellies in comparison to the males. (your two in the phot look like feamles to me). If you want them to breed, put in lots of drain pipes, the male will disappear for a while cause he actually protects and fans the eggs. But remove all adults whenthe fry are born! Any questions ask away i used to keep a group of six of them and got them to breed successfully. However i was not successful at keeping the fry alive but that was due to my lack of time and equipment.

Very nice pictures. Thanks for sharing them. Can we get a full tank shot by any chance?

Full tank shot, as requested :D
They're sharing a tank with my Betta albimarginata pair at least until I can nuke the divided 10 gallon that crashed and move them into it. They get along great though, so they might just stay where they are. There are also a couple of otos, a couple of khuli loaches, and a swamp darter in there.
Edit: Whoops, don't mind the netting over the filter intake... Mr. albi is holding a couple of fry, as usual

nice pictures , it's hard to get good pics of peacocks [ was for me ].
They show more red/pink if you're lucky enough get a pic without a flash .

I like your set-up for them .

The fish in the pics also look like females to me , but that can change .
I had one I thought was a female , turned out it was a very slow developing male .

If you have both sexes you'll find out soon enough .

raising fry can be done ......... I have 3 that were born in my tank , nothing to sing about but it's something .

The can jump too ..........

I'm pretty sure they're still young, so I'm hoping a male will present himself as they grow :)

Just thought I would add my 2 cents :D

They are lovely arn't they? I bought a pair a couple months back and they bred 3 times and had a lot of fry. The male then wanted to breed with the female a 4th time but she didn't want to and he ended up killing her. The tank is 14.5 gallons with wood and pvc pipes so I thought she could get away if she needed to but that wasn't the case. I later found out that if you want to keep males and females together you need at least 2 pairs. If you just want to breed them then you need to seperate the male and female afterwards because the male can get very aggressive and kill the female like in my case.

Anyways I still have about 18 fry left out of about 40-60. I've raised them inside the same tank with the male gudgeon. They are all big enough now that he can't eat them. Some are now taking bloodworm and frozen brine shrimp. You wouldn't think by the size of them that they could eat something that big but their mouths are pretty huge.

They are getting quite friendly now too..coming up to the tank to greet me. There are about 3-4 that are pretty large about half an inch now. You can see the yellow in their fins and the black spot near the base of their tail fin too.

I'll try and get some pics maybe later tonight of the them!!
