New Parrot Fish

ok so he isn't new but since I havn't posted on here for aaaaaaaaaaages hes basically new to everybody else. Anyway, yeah so I got a parrot with his baby colours ( greenish grey colour with black stripes) 3-4 months ago, he has now caught up with my other parrots now who are bright orange but he is still the same colour? he has a bit of orange like a firemouth cichlid on his chin but thats it. Also he hasn't went the slightest bit deformed in any way, his mouth moves perfectly. Don't all parrots go orange and deformed?

parrots are very hit and miss. I dont have mine anymore but he was a beautiful fish (which is rare for a parrot, no deformaties apart from his mouth wouldn't quite fully close, since i had mine i have always kept a close eye out for more in pet shops and have never seen such a beauty, they all differ so much, some are seriously deformed with different body shapes and general bulk, deformed mouths and eyes, some are almost cream coloured (natural not injected) instead of orange - maybe he just won't develop a deep orange colour.

I will post a pic later today. The parrot is doing great but I just found it so strange that he's not the slightest bit deformed or that he hasn't went orange yet lol

nothing to worry about its just its colour tbh the lfs has these in at the mo. As you prob know there are cross bred by man so anything is possabile

it may well be a Severum cross bred giving it its colour and markings who knows !!!

thanks for that, just had a quick read through it and was quite interesting to read. you may be right about the severum thing, does have a green severum pattern to him. biggest thing that got me though was no deformities? found that very weird for a parrot. he is thick though lol, if you look at his head he has a few markings on it, this was because one night he thought he would try and swim through a hole in a rock bad move lol after looking at him for a bit and realized he isn't moving i came to the conclusion that he was stuck, well and truly lol. eventually got him out by gently pushing his head and he eventually came loose

mines deep orange,iam as mad as hell after reading the artical,mines definatley dyed,i wouldnt of bought it,had i knew anything about these fish..mind now i wouldnt part with him as it eats out of my hand and all of us in the house love him,bongo i call him,we call it at him.the bloke at the lfs,gave me a load of sh** saying i would never buy them or sell dyed fish,he must of loved me,,,well he wont get anymore of my money,the sod

just because its orange it doesn't mean its dyed

Looks to be regular juvie markings. Some take much longer to fade than others and some never do. The markings you see are actually of the red devil/midas (google juvi midas/devil and you will see). I dont buy the severum thing. More likely the parentage of parrots are midas/devil with synspilium.

Ive got the same thing, a very big bright orange Parrot with no deformaties, ive seen hundreds of butt ugly ones but mine is a really stunner

Really nice BP although technically it still has the deformed mouth (although less so than many others).
