new parrot cichlid

i got it at petsmart today only because it was all natural looking. it looks kinda like a convict.
any idea what kind of cross it is?

it has alot more stripes now and it is alot darker in color then the pics show.

i would never have gotten it if it was dyed but i thought it was cool.

I don't see much convict in there...usually convict/parrot mixes look a lot more like convicts. I for sure see Green Severum in there though. Great looking fish.

Well, i know its not dyed... but i know it has the distinctive parrot face. But im sure people are gonna flame you about it beeing dyed because of the blue tint of the gravel.
The gravel makes the fish look blue.

Looks like the typical severum and midas/RD cross to me, only with a green sev instead of a gold which gives it its colour... it might eventually turn orange as it grows, too.

odd thing is it had lots of vertical black stripes which is what made me say convict.
space if someone flames me then ill flame them back.
it looks blue because i added half a teaspoon of meth blue and btw half a teaspon is enough to make 46gallons blueish.

All young parrots have dark stripes on them. There are other fish that have dark stripes, such as the green severum....

I asure you there is no convict in him. If he had convict in him he would look like this:

See where there is not concave forhead indentation on a convict cross?

ok yea big difference.
so as it gets older its color patterns will most likely change?

Yes, it will probably trun into the typical bright orange. Mine, during 'the change' turned white then into orange.

That looks a lot like the parrot I picked up from petsmart a few months ago too. I picked one him caues he looked like his young Severum tankmate, but it didn't take long for his color to completely change to a bright orange. My favorite fish though.

gorgeous i love the finnage on him; it's so full looking. nice selection... even if it will turn orange.
