hiya,

i just yesterday bought 4 female and 2 male guppies, i put them in and then two of the females had babies!!

could you tell me:

1. how long till the fry are full grown?
2. what is the prefered ph and tempurature for keeping guppies and how do you check the ph?
3. how do you know they are ready to mate?

thanks

1. how long till the fry are full grown?

Full Grown? about 6 months however 2 months makes little guppies instead of fry

2. what is the prefered ph and tempurature for keeping guppies and how do you check the ph?

PH? mines neutralish
temp? room temp here in brisbane :p , havnt needed to turn the heater on yet

3. how do you know they are ready to mate?

Guppy girls (and other livebearers) can store enough sperm in them for 3-7 pregnancies, and as for ready to mate have a female and male in the smae tank and their ready to mate. Girl guppies birth every 28days or so (this can be more or less depending on individual paramaters)

Hope this helps

If your thinking of rehoming the fry when they're older they'll be ready to move at around 4months old; Guppys can quite happily tolerate a ph that isn't nesarsarily to their exact specifications and their preferred tank temp is 24/26 degrees.
I wouldn't worry about when they're ready to mate as they'll do it when they're ready in their own time no problem. If you have them in separate tanks though i would introduce the females to the males 1week after they have had fry just to give them some time recover.
