I think that those of us with pictures of New Orleans should post them. There are so many qualities unique to New Orleans that will never reappear. Even if they rebuild it, the city will never quite be the same.

These are the pictures I took at the New Orleans Aquarium about 3 weeks ago.

those are awsome pictures. I hope everone gets to reuild and start again. I think all this is terrible..

I would have loved to have seen that for myself, it will never be the same again there.
Thank you SO much for those pictures. A worthy tribute to some gorgeous fish and sea-life.
Thank you very much.

My husband and I were just talking about the zoo and the aquarium. Do you think that there is any hope that they saved the animals?

while i appreciate the compliments, right now i wish i hadn't taken so many stupid fish pictures. i think i maybe have 10 pictures that aren't of fish and none of those are even of the city itself.

you just assume that a place is always going to be there, that the constructs of man are permanent...

--EDIT--
except for a few rare and expensive creatures (like the cloned african cats), i imagine they all had to be abandoned to the elements.

wow, amazing shots Pica. Saddening at the same time.

One of our local DJ's was on the radio last night and she mentioned growing up in NO and spoke of the aquarium. She had once asked what would happen if heaven forbid the aquarium was destroyed, would the fish go out to sea etc? And she was told that the direction it faced would actually lead the fish right up Canal Street, so some of those fish could very possibly be swimming the streets right now

I know for certain that the dolphins were evacuated to hotel swimming pools to ride the storm out. I would love to add some Aquarium photos as well... I have a lot of them. Gotta find them though ... New Orleans was like a second home to me since I grew up in Mobile :-(

Infamous Bourbon Street *note: this was taken in the morning hrs when the streets aren't crowded because everyone's hung over*

Bourbon again...

Trolly on Canal Street (we were almost hit by the trolley while trying to get this pic... )

Some fountain in the middle of the city... (I saw this fountain on some Disney movie or show one day)

Another of that crazy fountain...

Clarinet painted on the side of the Holiday Inn... (across the street from the park where Louis Armstrong grew up)

Those were just a few that I had on my current PC. I'll find more and post, if you don't mind looking...
