So the other day I was watching the babies swim around and I noticed what I had thought to have been a pretty guppy fry, was actually a platy fry I havent seen before! Its smaller than the yellow platy fry, so im guessing about 4 days to a week younger, and I then actually noticed 4 of them! They have a blueish tint to them with some orange tint from the midhalf down to the tail, so im guessing my old blue female did have babies this time and actually had hiding spots for them, and good ones at that, I never even saw them in there until now! So that leaves me with one guppy fry when I thought I had more, oh well, it was really exciting, I thought people were gonna get really ANNOYED with me when I was calling everyone I knew to tell them, like they cared or something LOL. Anyways, I do have a question about them. They seem to be getting some color on them like I had mentioned, a blueish hue on the first half, and orange hue from the midhalf to the tailfin, which the female is all blue, and the possible male is all orange, the other possible male is a greenish/blueish tint and has an orange/red tail, its a redmoon wagtail anyways, is it possible that they will show color characteristics from both parents? A couple, or at least one isnt showing this orange tint like a couple of the others, so is it possible they will all be different? Its gonna be a LONG wait to see is what im guessing, but I hope they are perrrttyyy! Anyways thats my FYI!

Yes, they can be a mix between the parents. I have rainbow Wagtails right not, from an Orange Wagtail and a Rainbow father...so it is definitely possible. And yes, it is possible for them to be different. I also have pure Wagtails and pure Rainbows that came from the batch with the mixed colors. I have a very helpful batch of fry there, eh? :p

I'm sure they'll be purdy. Keep us updated!

It could take a few weeks for the color to stabilize I had a batch of Swords that I thought were going to be half orange and half black and they ended up being all black

Well, I guess im gonna have to wait and see how they turn out I guess. I also just noticed a fry that I hadnt seen before, that cant swim well. He kind of scoots along the bottom and lays sort of sideways, but has been eating the flakes reaching the bottom. I kind of feel sorry for him/her. Dont know what is wrong with him, but he doesnt have a little pot belly like the rest, im figuring because he isnt coming up for food and is just getting scraps.

just to be awkward i would like to say my guppy fry dont look like neither mum or dad, there totally diff colours. :p and have no colour strain from the parents at all.I know there from my original guppys cos there the only females and male i had and i had them since they were tiny tiny things(1 month from birth).I fell lucky cos at the time we were unable to sex them due to age/size

forgot to say the fry are 2 month old now so they really are the colours that are with them for life now!

Looks like I might have to wait another month then... or so. My first platy batch is a month old, and they all look alike... just like mum. And the new ones will all be different, but I dont know their age, but im guessing around 3 weeks old. But I can already tell that some have colors and others dont... hmm
