i know livebearers can produce over and over again but can one have some babies but not all and then have the others soon after.

my silver mollie that gave birth last night is still showing definite signs of having babies in there? this morning when i came out i didnt even realise she had had her babies as she was still kinda fat and swimming around quite energetically yet she was somehwta smaller than last night. is it possible that she only had some of her babies last night and will have the rest tonight? she is the only possible one that could have dropped as everyone else is neither nowhere near dropping or still have huge bellies and her belly is smaller than before so she must have been the one who dropped.

any ideas?

emily :)

Unless their stressed they will tend to have all the babies at the same time.
The reason she still looks large is once they happy producing fry, befor they give birth they are producing eggs for the next batch of fry.
So they may not lose all the weight.
In theory a livebearer should not gain any weight while pregnant, all the fry get feed from the egg and not the mother.
When birds lay eggs the egg dose not grow. This is the same with fish, they get fat coz of the next batch of eggs are getting ready.
