I have two mollies in my 6 gal tank. A small black one which I think may only be a few weeks old and a larger dalmation mollie. Put them in yesterday and they seem to be getting on fine, sucking the algea off everything, they seem to love the stuff.

I read here that mollies need salt in their water. I have some API aquarium salt left over from treating my betta with finrot and just wondered if this would be ok to add to the mollies tank or if it should be another type?

although the minimum reccomended tank size for mollies is a 10 gallon so you will need to upgrade them, you on the right track about the salt thing, but i cannot advice you on that topic

Yes they will be getting upgraded into my 20gal tank that I have just bought when I have it set up and ready, so by the time they get bigger they will be in a bigger tank.

i think the only fish that cannot deal with salt are plecs, corys and loaches, but i am not 100% sure
