Hello Everyone!

My name is Lissette and I'm getting my DMA at the University of Illinois, but my real home is in Miami, FL. I have two tanks up and running, with plans to upgrade to a very large one (125+ gallons) when I graduate next May. Right now I have a 45-hex, I know terrible shape, and it's too small for what I have in it now, but it was only $15 dollars with the stand and lights. The inhabitants of that tank are going to the upgrade home next year. Right now it has a butterfly koi and a comet, which are fine, but I want them to have a larger, better display tank. The koi is really a magnificent fish, and I've considered a pond, but we have a bad feral cat population and I don't feel like setting up the neighborhood's newest sushi bar.

The other tank is a 15-gallon high in my apartment in IL. Right now it's divided in half and home to two male half-moon bettas, Fassolt and Fafner. They never touch, there's a partition, so no accidents there, just plenty of mental stimulation. Does anyone have any suggestions for other fish that could go in that tank with them. I was thinking perhaps a trio of swords on one side and a trio of platies on the other, or maybe corydoras, any suggestions? I would prefer to keep the tank understocked rather than overstock it, but I would like some color besides the bettas' blue. The tank is cycled and the bettas are a new edition after my friend's kids dumped a container of fish food in the tank, killing a beautiful school of 15 neons that I had for nearly a year. That made me mad, it took me 8 weeks to get that tank prestine again, and she didn't even compensate me for the fish  .

I have kept planted tanks in the past and have bred kribensis, so if I can give any advice, I would love to, or just sit back and enjoy this hobby with a community of fellow fish lovers.

Have a great day, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Warm Regards,

Lissette

Welcome to TFF. This is a wonderful forum that is very welcoming!
If you have any issues at all please post them in the appropriate topic section and we will do everything possible to help. Generally, this is a very welcoming forum and everyone is always full of advice and ideas!! If there is a specific problem it is worth posting the water stats (pH, temp, nitrite, nitrate, amonia), what is in the tank in general and as much detail as possible!
And remember ......... there is no such thing as a stupid question!
