Hello!
I went to the LFS today to pick up a few fish to add to my tank.
Current inhabitants (with newly added fish):
-1 Pleco (which kind, I can't remember)
-4 Peppered Corys
-1 Blind Cave Tetra
-3 (+1 three-week-old fry) guppies, (ONE male, TWO female, one un-identified fry)
-1 Balloon Sailfin Molly
-1 White (unidentified) Molly
-2 Swordtails (male)
Today I added two guppies and the two mollies.
Issue is, the male guppy seems to be a little.... well, for lack of a better word, horny. He's been attempting to breed with every fish in the tank, male and female alike. From the second I scooped him out of the bag and put him in the tank, he's done nothing but annoy my female guppies (the original female guppy who has been in the tank for weeks is very pregnant about a week off of being due; and the new guppy that I suspect is in the early stages of pregnancy from the gravid spot) and more recently (4 hours ago), he set his sights on the white (unidentified) molly. The molly happens to be male and has been swimming away from the male guppy for 4 hours now. While I type this, the male guppy is attempting to mate with the white molly and the white molly is swimming rapidly around the tank eluding the guppy.
The molly is getting a little annoyed and has nipped at any fish that get in his way when he's running from the male guppy.
I've had male guppies in the tank with females before and never had any issues with their breeding habits. This guppy appears to be fairly young as he's much smaller than the male guppies I've had in the tank in the past.
Is there any way to discourage my male guppy from the mollies and other fish in the tank?
(I think he's attempted to breed with EVERYONE in the tank. Right down to the corys and the pleco)
Is it possible for my molly to do any damage to my other fish? I've had some fin-nipping fiascos and I don't want to re-live that again.
Thanks!
Some Background info:
Tank is a 15 Gallon. (57 litre) and has been running for about a month and a half with fish.
There is plenty of plants and ornaments to provide hiding places for fish.
*EDITED for my own stupid mistakes*
