Hiya,

still not got back home yet but hope my sisters little plec or loach whatever has come out now.

however my sisters tank looks a bit boring. it has different coloured gravel and a normal coloured big rock at the back with one fake plant next to it, then a little rock infront of the big rock at the back.

it looks too plain to me, im thinking of getting like orange gravel with like a bridge and some divers or something??? for my little sister to make it look more intersting? any ideas? i also have lying around a purple, blue and red corral rocks.

any ideas??? thanks x

my input is dont buy coloured gravel, go natural, or black or sand, and for plants, go real instead of fake, some low light plants would set it off, a few rocks and slate caves would too!

Hiya,

yes i get that a tank looks more effective with sand and real plants ect. iv changed my tank to the more natural look and it does look amazing!

but this tank is my little sisters and she would want something more fake like, she's only little and when i was picking natural looking stuff for my tank she was totally in love with all the kiddies things that you could put in like little mermaids that would go in ect. just wondering if anyone had any nice ideas of what colours and what plants (plastic) and ornemants (for kids) would go nice in her tank.

her tank is in her room so we dont want real plants and sand ect until shes older or it could leed to disaster!

any advice?

thanks x

yes! thats quiet an idea, she likes mermaids and just been on to pets at home and they do it, however not sure how much it would cost for the gravel and the mermaid and plastic plant alone. what do you all think to pink gravel? what would the cheepest place to get some be?

thanks x

like this just not with the tank:

dont but cheap coloured gravels, the paint normaly comes off, but you could use sand instead that is pink

thanks, but i think ill stick to gravel, maybe to the original multicoloured gravel? im thinking about pink or blue or orange, but i have a full bag of mixed gravel so i think ill stick to mixed for her. then getting her a little mermaid orniment to put in?

iv just thought, she has this little mermaid bubble bath stuff thats half empty? when its empty would that be ok to put in the tank? i would wash it out ect. if its possible? would any like plastic orniments be safe to put in??? be cheaper and easier then.

thanks x

p.s plus then my little nuisance of her new plec sally cant get stuck up there! also about that, how long would it take for her to get back out? thanks x

its like this just in a see through ball of bubble bath:

I'd be careful and not put anything that isn't for a fish tank in there. Only because you don't know how it could affect the water. The colour on the ornament could come off and be in the water which could be toxic. The plastic its made from could also be harmful. If its not washed properly the shampoo residue could kill the fish.

My advice is don't risk it, I wouldn't but if you want to then wash it thoroughly in just v. v. v. hot water.

thanks for the advice, im not sure what to do myself. will let you all know what i am going to do anyway.

thanks x

ps any more suggestions of what to get/do with my sisters aqaurium is welcome.

thanks x

***************

Just had a word with my sister and i think she wants to keep her different coloured gravel and then put in a little mermaid and some plastic plants in.
i think this would be the best option.

thanks x
