I see Wildwoods have another UK first, they are great with loaches. But this new addition looks cool. A lot of new loaches are appearing lately, some really nice ones, Sewellia lineolata and now this one.

Loach Link

Does anyone know anything about these fish at all?

Note: Wildwoods have a mail order system! This is great if you're in the UK.

the link you posted is not working, but after searching the website i think this is what you meant(please correct me if I'm wrong: http://www.tropicalfishfinder.co.uk/fish_d...shType=tropical

some great information you'll find about any loach can be found here, which judging from your post count you've prolly heard of this website :) : http://www.loaches.com/species-index

i went ahead and have assumed this is the species you've asked about (again, correct me if i'm wrong):

That seems to be the best info on the net for it. It just got "discovered" by collectors a couple weeks ago and starting appearing in LFS so not much is known on it. I think the general assumption is it's similar to the Tiger loaches in respects to care/temperament (more aggressive than the botias).

I believe the thread mentions that the supplier says they keep the same general pattern as they age.

Its a shame they are so agressive, as otherwise i would totally buy these loaches for my own tanks, but my community tanks have so many fish which would make easy targets for this loach there's no way i'm risking these loaches in my tanks, even though they jaw droppingly gorgeous  .

We don't really know their level of aggression yet, and in some cases people managed to keep other Tiger species in community tanks.

I'd not suggest risking this, there were cases also when Tigers were very peaceful for long time, and then turned to aggression. If you have a tank that has species capable of standing their ground, then sure....

We also don't really know how they will look as adults...some loach species tend to become more attractive, some less. The Juvs are certainly very cute.

BTW, "Botia Cf. Beaufortia" is a funny typo on the export list. "Beaufortia" is a small hillstream loach which has nothing to do with Tigers.

What the exporter was trying to say is "Botia cf. beauforti", or rather "Syncrossus cf. beauforti" (Tigers were moved from the Botia genus years ago)...this extra "a" matters...
