ok i would like to increase my watage on my tank it is only .666.. wpg right now but i was thinking of ways on how to increase it a little bit heres my idea i get a glass clear lid put plastic wrap on the back were it doesnt cover and put the 20w light i have on it now buy a strip light and put it on the front to make a total of 40w so around 1.33... wpg does this sound ok??? any suggestions -_-

I think it sounds like a waste of money. 1.33wpg isn't a great improvement. Try aiming for about 2 or 2.5 wpg.

would that be possible without co2 and fertilizer and how would i achieve that with minimum cost

i wasnt talking about a good looking aquirium i already have one but i dont have the money to be dooing co2 and ferts im 14 and dont have a regular job or steady income im just trying to up the wattage on a low budget

Theres always a DIY method. All you gotta do is hook up 2 CF lights (well the number of bulbs depends of the wattage).

what are CF lights and i have to figure out how to get the light shining on my tank with still a closed tank

CF lights stand for compact flourescent. I'm guessing this is fr your 30 gallon, so you would need to get 2 42 watt bulbs, around $6 a piece, and 2 sockets. I wont get into too much detail, but you just need to wire those up to an outlet cord and bam, you have a cheap and easy lighting system. I can give you a link if your seriously interested.

Yea, you can go to home depot to get the supplies. I think ill have to pm you the link because its a link to another forum and i dont want to get in trouble for posting a link to a different forum up. So check your pms.

ok well i need a covered tank due to my fish so i might do what i said before get a glass covering and get another strip light only problem is that i will have to lift the light up every time i feed my fish

o wow thank you so much i cant believe i didnt think of that after my grandpa passed away my gradma went to home depot of some store and got plexiglass custom cut to put her flower pots on thank you so much i might do that

love fish are cf ligths that good for fish though because that link you gave me the bulbs i dont think were for fish isnt that not good for them

No, its fine for fish. Notice how it says daytime on those bulbs. Its not more than 6700K, so its ok for fish.
