I currently have a 29 gallon tank, has been set up for bout 3 years now with no issues and very little fish loss except for my pleco who I have had for about 6 years and had made it through two of my movings and two tank changes. Anyhow, this is the largest tank I have had and now have the opportunity to get a large 90 gallon tank. I have only ever had a tank with a hang on type filtration system.
My questions all revolve around the running of a tank that size. Is it the same as a smaller tank? I have no idea when it comes to something this large. The rank is empty, has been for years, and the person that I work with who will be giving it to me says they have older filters but she did not know what her husband had. I guess by reading around forums that filtration depends on what would be in the tank as well. Would be a planted tank as for fish I am not anywhere near that stage. I am not really to the point of even setting up. Set Up would not take place until the spring now as it will be in mybasement that is in the middle of a major renovation right now. Just want to do my research and find out the best choices for a tank this size. It is a 90 gallon, 48"x18"x24", looking into possible another that a guy wants to sell he says its a 100Gal. I didn't want to start my research in an aquarium store as I was afraid they would sell me whatever and I would have no idea. Any ideas or suggestion would be appreciated.
