it may just be the lighting effects on the pic
but that looks like a L128 to me
eithway stunning pleco
(i have both BTW)

It's what I would call a "Middle of the river" Hemiancistrus sp.

The L200 and the L128 are the same fish. The further north up the river you go, the greener they get. The further south on the river you go, the bluer they get. This one doesnt look totally blue, it has a hint of green in it from what i can see, so its somewhere between the two, however I would probably agree that it is closer to the L128 colouring than the L200.

They had a L128 also, and it was much darker than this one. It may just be the light. The two pics of it in the bag are pretty dark. It's definitely greener than it looks in those two pictures at least.

hi ben, can you provide the scientific paper that supports that notion.
From what I can gather the debate is still open on wether or not they are the same fish.

Ok, there is still open debate on this subject, but I have read from various sources that suggests this very thing, such as this one from Planet Catfish..

I own both the L200 and L128 and to me they appear to be very similar if not identical in spot arrangement, fin shape and mouth/jaw shape.

Thanks for the link ben.
same here, I have both; in my case one is 6" and one is 2" so it is hard to compair the two.

I think that at the very least the L128 & L200 are a species and sub-species, but untill there is a definative genetic study on this I'm sticking on the side of "they are 2 different fish"

Eitherway I think they are both stunning and if I could have just one pleco
it would be the L128

I would always have them both :p Out of the 2 the L200 is the more active, although I prefer the colouration of the L128.
