what is the best way to plant java ferns in a gravel substrate? when i bought it it had a black colored algae on it too, whats the best way to remoze this? manually or justlet the fish eat it.

Generally tying it with some fine wool to a submerged rock or something similar should work it it won't stay down on it's own. If it is black and/or string algae then very few fish will eat it and it's best to remove the infected leaves entirely.
