So my KK x Synspilium (I forget their flowerhorn name) has been lonely since his mother(the KKBP)passed. I say he but I've never been sure the sex, I kinda though he was a she. Anyhoos I was in the LFS a few months back and they had a nice big KK Parrot that was a hand in. Since it was the double of the one I just lost I just had to have it. I intially thought it was male and the KKSyn took an instant shine to it though it didnt seem too fussed with the KKSyn. They were fine for a month or so then one day I come home from work and they have had a falling out with the parrot having the upper hand. I divided them while I thought of what to do (tank shuffles and such) but the parrot jumped the divider with similar results as before. Again I divided them and they recovered from their minor injuries withine a few weeks. Well Thursday I came home from work to find the parrot had jumped again but this time theres not a mark on them and they seem to have decided to make love not war  I gave them a big clay pot as a nest site and they are busy cleaning it. It does seem that the KKSyn is the male and the parrot is female.

Pics (took them with my iphone so they are a bit rubbish)

Congrats T, They are sure going to make an Interesting Mix. Keep us updated with fry development. :hyper: :good:

So they laid a batch of eggs tpday while I was at work. Problem is thier breeding tubes looked exactly the same so I cant really tell "whos the daddy" if there even is one. Though the parrots tube did shrink back down quick and the KK/Syn's hasnt so either both are female or the parrot is male. Either way there won't be the pitter patter of tiny fins anytime soon.

Any more news since then?

Nah they get on just but have a lot of dominance squabbles which leads me to think they are both females. No more eggs though.
