hi all members.
I have had my 420 litre tank for over a year now. I have 7 gouramis, 7 plecos, 2 males and 3 female swordtails.
Last Monday I noticed my swordtail was looking heavily pregnant so I put her in a small tank ready for birth, later that morning she gave birth to approx 60 frys. it was lovely watching the birth, as soon as I felt she had finished giving birth, I put her back into the big tank. All frys are doing well so far, they have grow a little since Monday. I had 45 plecos born a few weeks ago and I took them out of big tank into small tank and only 2 survived. Maybe it was a mistake taking them out or maybe the water in the small tank wasn;t right. I am not fastinated by them breeding and seeing the babies so I decided to make this my new hobby. I am getting a new tank tomorrow approx about 60 - 100 litres for the new babies to grow and keeping using the smallest tank for the birth.
As I have 7 gouramis, they have never bred so I presume they must be all males lol... I am wondering how do you tell the different between male and females?? Does anyone know!!!!
Also with plecos, how do you tell the different...hmmmm hard work eh lol...
I look forward to getting advice from anyone that have more experience...
cheers
