I have a 20g and a 5g community tanks the 5g has 2 plaites 2 gupppies and 1 bettea i TRY to breed guppys and platies ive got one batch fo gups only 3 fry rest were eatin and i just bought the platies with platies should i have 2 Female 1 male? Id Like to know alot mroe about platies so please post any helpful info on breeding platies

i would say, with ur platies as with most livebearers yuo should have 2 females to 1 male atleast.

Basically they just breed with out any help and the platy will after mating give birth in 28 - 30 days depending on water temp and water conditions. When the female is ready to give birth make sure you have the tank well planted or put her in her own tank or a breeder net. Once the fry are born you can feed them off of comercial fry food, baby brime shrimp, or crushing fish flakes into a fine powder. Hope this helps you.
