:hi: to the forum-tanks looks cool to me-wouldnt mind some close ups too some time!

welcome to forum, really nice tank u have there, i love the wood stand and canopy :good:

normally i would say why do u have gold fish in there they will die if the temp is to high, but recently, a teacher at my school managed to have plecos and goldfish live together, the gold fish adjusted to the temp that was needed for the plecos

why are you keeping goldfish in with tropical fish it is coldwater. this isnt really fair on the fish!!!!

wot do u mean not fair on who tropical or goldfish they have all been 2 gether for a while now with no problems they dont try and attack the smaller fish they just swim casually round so be honest not sure wot ur getting at also they were in that sot of temperature when in there other tank so makes no difference been in this tank and as u can see from other pics ive posted they are very healthy and always have been all 6 years of there life:p

Basically what you are being told is that you have cold water fish and tropical fish in the same tank.....even if they have been ok, it doesn't mean its correct or good for them.

rite having tropical fish and cold water 2gether i cant seen been unhealthy for either of them

and like i said in earlier post they were in a tank that was probably higher than ur average tropical setup anyways and they have been like that for prob arund last 3 years theyve had no illness and no signs of been unhappy so wots the problem if all of them are heathly i thought thats wot keeping fish was all about kepping them happy and healthy lol i not long been a member here and getting grief already lol just for showing tank and fish lol oh well cant plz every 1 i guess every 1 has there opinion even if i dont nessersary agree with it :grr:

Sorry if it seems like people are getting at you :) just bare in mind its a site dedicated to sharing knowledge about how to propperly take care of all species of fish, if you do somthing wrong (even if to you it doesnt seem to be a problem) im afraid you have to be prepared to listen to peoples advice.

Welcome Either Way :hi:

people tend to jump to rational conclusions but to be fair, although the fish seem healthy and happy, there's no way of knowing that they are unless you can talk to them lol
for example, just yesterday i lost an apistogramma cacatuoides (absaloute gorgeous fish!) which i thought was perfectly healthy and happy. i gave it everything it needed but, after coming home from college in the afternoon, i found it dead. although i had fed it in the morning on the same day, it just can't have been healthy or happy.

there is a reason for coldwater fish being called coldwater fish, and the same with tropical fish. i'm not 100% sure why myself, apart from the different required temperatures, but i'm sure someone on here could tell you.

besides! you have a tropical fish tank... what you keeping goldfish for? lol!

Is it that the goldfish's oxygen requirement wouldnt be met because of the higher temperature of the water it was swimming around in? Maybe someone will correct me or agree.........

I'd heard summat along those lines too-i thought the oxygen issue might be more pressing though. Still, no point trying to breathe if you aint growing! :shout:

lol ive had themfor around 6 years so when i got this new tank i thought id give them a better home ad put them in it lol but after all the comments was it worth it imthinking lol anyways hello all glad i started such adiscussion off :fun:

i'm sure it is a nicer home for them but at the end of the day, they are coldwater fish.
its like going on holiday. this might not be a suitable example because humans have desires but just imagine if you went on holiday to the middle of Africa but then found out you can't move back to UK. would you be able to stand the scortching hot sun all year round?

another reason to look at this is that goldfish have the potential to grow to a pretty big size. i don't know if the higher temperatures would stunt their growth and what not but it's gonna be so much harder to climatize them down to a lower temperature if they were to grow to their full potential size.
if you're out of tanks and don't have a pond, i'm sure a large plant pot with a really small pond filter/large internal tank filter would work. i'm planning to do this on my patio.

but, at the end of the day, its totally your decision.
