im not sure my new halfmoon needs his fins healed but after looking at him a while i noticed that it kinda didnt look like it might. to make this short it kinda looks like maybe he was in a fight at one point and part of his fins dont quite go out far enough to make the "halfmoon" a smooth edged moon. does that make sense? he's still a halfmoon, not a delta or a super delta, its the back of the rear fin that i thought looked that way. maybe its just that its still in the jar and cant fan out all the way yet  it was an impulse buy, so i have to go and get a little aquarium for him :p any ideas on what to do for healing if he needs it? i can try and find some of that leaf stuff or whatever it is. and i probably should go buy some beta gold to replace the regular betta pellets iv been using. anything else other than practicing good habits anyway like regular water changes?

if your in the us you can buy somthing called melifix,, not sure what the uk version is called, but its a antibacterial and helps grow fins back if they have been badly damaged as will a little bit of aquarium salt,,, not table salt, iodine will kill your fish. about a half teaspoon of salt per gallon and only 10 drops of melifix per gallon for no more then five days for the melifix. the lable says more but bettas are sesntitve to it. a one gallon aquarium is the smalest i would for, with 2 gallons preferable or more if you can afford it . warmer water temps wiil help heal fins up faster, most bettas like it between 72 and 78 degrees farinhight. if you need to put a heater in the tank make sure to have a quality theomomter in as well. as for filters its pretty muchup to you and your fish they dont like a ton of water flow so a very small one with s very gental flow is preferable,, but some fish hate any water flow so judge by your fish. if you go wiltout any filter try 2 50% water changes a week, with one a 50 % once a week should be ok. do your have city water or well? some citys have chemicals in the water so a water conditoner will take out the bad stuff,, read whatever that lable says, i like api its a nice brand. :good:

iv got him in a bare 5.5 gallon right now. im leaving it kinda bare for a week or to so it acts as a QT to make sure he's healthy. i hope he is, rarely do i find halfmoons. i dont want a filter but i do have a heater. ill have to go get another thermometer for the tank.
