new guppies

bought 5 male guppies last weekend one had already died dont know why! water fine etc...but i have noticed that the guppies quarrell alot amongst themselves they are always having a little go at one another all at the same time they just swim along toghter picking at each other..is this normal male guppie behavour?

(also today one went on a little journey up the water pipe! poor little thing opps! ) )

I have six male guppies in one tank and all they do is play, no aggresion (don't think they are capable of it). In another tank I have four females and one mature male, they just seem to play too.

Guppies can be delicate if of a fancy variety, so that could account for the unexplained death.

fancy as in big tails and colourful??? yea he was my fave....black and irridesent green and yellow..dammit..well mayb they are playing lol....they not actually harming each other silly little things lol!

do you have any females? I had 2 male guppies and 1 female once, and one of the males killed the other because he wanted the female for him self.

Gupiies can actually be very aggressive when it comes to women, or for the role of dominent male.

no i dont have ne females so there nothing for them to fight over...

though the guppy that died probably was old, 6 months is old for a guppy now a days.

Sometimes the stress from the move is enough to kill a fish. Some are just plain delicate or unhealthy. If the rest are fine chances are it was a fluke.

well it takes males for ever to grow, unless they are from one of those places where they do 100 percent water changes like twice a day, and have the heat really high. That does make them grow quicker, but it is not good for them because no normal keeper will do that for the fish.

home grown ones take like 5 months to grow. Being so inbred they usually only live 6-8 months because they are so weak from the inbreeding.

also traveling can be rough on the fish, and very stressfull. Taking all those into account that makes a very weak fish that is susseptable to many diseases and can easily get sick and die.

oh rite ok..ima make a note of the date to see how long my fihs live from now on!!! a fishy life diary...week 1 guppy already dead... (hehe dont worrie i wont post it on here!!!)
