Hi All,

Been a few weeks since I last posted. Since then I have acquired a new tank. I already have a Fluval Duo Deep 800 and now have another. I am alittle bit puzzled about some gravel I saw in a local LFS. The gravel in question is fine black glass. Has anyone used this before? I do like the look of it and would love to use it but I am just a little concerned about it being glass.

Thanks,

Richard

If its glass it'll be fine for the tank, but if it is rough/has sharp edges at all it will not be good for any bottom dwelling fish you choose to have.
Sand is better than gravel in quite a lot of ways, not only is it easier to keep clean and (IMHO) better for growing plants in, but will open up a lot more options to you when choosing any bottom dwelling fish for the tank if you want to get any- you can also get fine black silica sand for fish tanks (also comes in a lot of other colours like white, yellow, green, blue, purple etc etc) if you are looking for a dark substrate for the tank  .
