Okay, here goes...

I watched two of my female guppies give birth to 35 fry a month ago on Saturday, and two days ago one of them and another of my females gave birth again. I was at work so only managed to rescue 5 from one mother and 2 from another (and another of my females is in a breeding net ready to pop...yay!) All the babies, the original and the new midgets from the last two days, are all together in my baby fishie tank, but I was wondering about food.

The bigger ones are on Hikari First Bites and just regular crushed flakes mixed together, and I have LiquiFry for the tiny ones, but the newest ones seem to ignore the LiquiFry and head straight for the First Bites. I can't remember what the packet said because the food is all mixed in the tropical flake container, but is this okay for the tiny babies to be eating the First Bites? I seem to remember it saying something about not feeding them on it for a week or so after birth, but I really can't remember...does anyone know?

My fry seem to do fine without buying any special foods. I give them finely crushed flakes for the first few weeks as well as a mush made from green peas, brine shrimp and vitamins that I buy from my LFS that all of my fish regardless of size love. I just mush it up a bit more for the fry. I also use a mortar and pestal to crush Tetra Discus fine for the fry. Most foods get soft and the fry can pick it apart as long as they can get to it so I leave them in the trap for a couple of weeks so I can target them with a few different things.HTH :)
