Ok I am sure this has been asked a million times, but how long does it normally take for fry to show their colors? I have a tank with a few Platy and Guppy fry. They are not that old yet a little bigger than a grain of rice. I can tell that it looks like some of them are going to be female. However most of them all appear to be gray or light brown in color. I am thinking one is going to be like her mommy because her mommy is a Gold Twin Bar platy and I can already see wht looks like the twin bar marking on the fry, but it is not a gold color, again more light brown. Thanks

I had a yellow Molly that gave birth to mostly orange colored fry and a few black fry. She must have mated with a black Molly. Anyway, it's been about two months and the orange ones are lightening up to more yellow still. They showed little black spots here and there at about one month. The black ones show a lighter shading too now. I would say two months is a good amount of time to start seeing most of the color.

platy will tend to show more colour in generan than guppies, but males start to get their colour at 3 moths or so.
