We got two new bettas tonight. Cottoncandy and one I haven't named yet.
"no name" is kind of sick and I'm worried about him making it. He seems happier in his little one gallon container than the other, but when we put him in he got a large white streak on his side (it disappeared within about 10 min though). I'm thinking when he's healthy he is going to turn a nice greenish color with possibly some blue in his fins (though I'm hoping he stays a solid greenish brown). We just got him today, so he's got some serious fin rot going on here. Here's a picture of him:
I made another thread about Cottoncandy have possible septicemia a moment ago. He's a pretty pink color (the color of cottoncandy...hence his name) He's a rather large betta, but very very cute.
We also changed our setup some. We had Potato in the 28 gallon tank. He seemed fairly happy, but ended up with ick and ripped his tail to shreds on the plastic plants trying to scratch. We got some 1 gallon stackables and we put him in there with meds. Well, his fins are beautiful again and the ick is gone...AND he's very very happy and made his very very very first bubble nest!!! Sadly I don't have a pic of it
We also have the others now in these little 1 gallon tanks. We put some gravel from an established tank on the bottom and covered that with little smooth, glassy pebbles. That way no one scratches themselves or anything. They are on top of the tv cabinet with two lamps for light. Here's a pic...
And even though I've already posted pics of Potato and Grumpy Gus (I didn't have a name for him before, but boy is he a grumpy little man!...so as of tonight, this is his new name).
Potato (the shiny part on him is not silvery...it's actually a dark blue. but it's very hard to get with a camera. At least this is better than him turning orange in pictures like he normally does)
Grumpy Gus (being grumpy of course)
