new fish

[fish are my life]

I got my first fish yesterday (6neons and a peppered cat) to cycle my 338 tank, i put an alge tablet in and it dissapered over night, so are catfish nocternnal eaters?, also my neons seem to be hanging round the bottom more then anywhere else. my neons didnt come up to feed this morning as welll. is this normal behaveior for new fish? cos i dont no

Yes, it is normal behaviour for new fish. Don't expect to see them eat much for the next couple of days.

Is your tank cycled? 338 Gallon? Liter?

Yes, catfish are nocturnal.

Edit: Sorry, just read your post. You are planning to cycle with the neons? Neons are very sensitive fish. I don't know if they will live through the cycling process.

I wouldn't cycle with neons or cories if I were you. They're too sensitive.

Zebra danios and Guppies or platys would work better.
