New Fish

Polycentrus Punctatus is the same fish as Polycentrus Schomburgki accodring to Axelrod...but mine seem to change colour like Chameleons. When i get home at night they are all dark, once i put the lights on the tank on they all lighten up almost immediately.....

damn fish!

sounds very similar to my Dats, they are black when the lights are out, lol.

Thought they were the same but couldnt find any references to the name change.

I got sold these at my lsp (one of them) and they told me notting about it but i found out that they live in fresh water and when they get older they swim out to sea and be a salt water fish that grows big.

They both died as they needed live food all the time and to move over to salt.

This is what i got told from someone who said they had them

That fish is neovespicula depressifrons, it's not the same fish as the one posted at the top!

I got hold of some baby guppies last night so gave them a treat, they took them without a second thought lol, their main diet is sand eel, brine shrimp, krill, tubifex etc....and once a month they will get some live foods, im trying to bulk them up so i can get them in the main tank as soon as possible.

I think for ID im going with Polycentrus Punctatus, Schomburgks Leaf Fish.

after a weeks feeding and a bit of care, my little darlings have put on some weight and are far more active :)

Hmm, So do the Dobbies in Scotland have quite a broad range of tropical fish then?

I doubt any of the stores in England would be able to order anything like that as the systems are set up so that we can only order fish species that have barcodes and are recognised by the tills, As you would expect this means that we quite limited on what we can order.

(by the way, I work for one in the West Midlands and have been to a few other Aquatics in England for courses etc.)

Yer the one in Stirling has some great fish, nice plecs, cichlids, puffers etc...im friendly with the guys in there so they will order stuff in for me aswell which is nice, but they regularly have Ctenopoma Acutirostre in stock along with some nice Nanochromis etc.

They are looking great mate, they seem a lot more settled and happy, not just sitting near the bottom of the breeding tank.
you'll have to set up a little 15 gallon for breeding guppies if you cant get them on to other foods.

Ive been mixing the feeding with Guppys and deads and they are all takin dead foods now including the smallest one...
