Hi I have just been given these 2 fish they are approx. 9inches in length, and I have tried to look them up with no luck just wondered if anyone could help they appear to be cichlids as far as im aware, they have a very interesting characteristic to dig with there extremely large mouths. I have also been told that when they breed they spawn their young and raise them in there mouth pockets.

They appeared to be some kind of tilapia, an african cichlid species. I think this tilapia is pink strain. I won't be surprised if it was hybrid tilapia. Don't know how to spell...mo-something.

yeah i think they're mozambique mothbrooders (Oreochromis mossambica)

Just found this site (http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Cichlid,%20Pink%20Tilapia.htm) they deffinately are Pink Tilapia looks identical to first picture but just read they will grow to over a foot long, so think it would be best i got rid, any idea if there is a market for them and how much they would be worth?

Well I hate to see them become someone's lunch. But I really had no idea about what they are worth but probably same cost as large south american cichlids....not flowerhorn....you can give them away to someone who's fan of cichlids. Just post an ad in Buy Sell Swap sections.

Yeah ive just been looking for them on the net for sale and realised that they are a very popular food, I actually have two males both are 9 inches so if anyone reading is interested them (as pets only) make me an offer, I am based in notttingham, and am not willing to post them so collection only please, as I will not be held responsible for death of fish via post.
