hey i'm thinking of what other fish to put with my male betta maybe 5 other fish i'd like to know specifically what fish will do great with my betta?
thx

theres not alot of fish that will go with male bettas.Maybe some shrimp or snails\ maybe a few oto's.Depends what your tank size is.

Depends on the bettas PERSONALITY. Some can go with the above,thread-fin rainbows, some times tetras, cories stuff lke that. More likely bottom dwellers that will stay out of his way

I have 3 red eye tetras, 3 black phantom tetras and a rhino pleco with my Betta and he seems to get along just fine with them :D

cool i think i'll try bert's idea but wat size is ur tank would a 10 gal do fine? :good:

Bettas are really solitary fish so don't really need the company of other fish. I you do want tankmates then you are best getting ottos or snails e.g. bottom dwellers.
Bettas can be very aggressive towards other fish and can also be the victims of fin nipping. :/

o  well is that the only choice because i'd like to have more fish but people keep telling me of all these bad things that can happen so i don't know if i should just leave my betta alone or make a community tank.. i've heard of other people making a sucessful community tank and i'd like to do the same........so i don't know what i should do?? :S

You could try him in a community tank but make sure you have another tank on standby just in case things don't work out!

i dont have a betta yet but i would try putting platies together
if your betta seems nice he'll do ok
like again have an extra tank in cause things do not go well

Yeah, I have a 10 gallon for the moment. I'm hopefully getting a 35 gallon from a friend otherwise, I'll need to pick one up eventually.

See how it goes but no guarantees itll go well... Try dividing the 10 gal and get a female or another male :hyper:

ok thx i'll try ur set up and see if it works with my betta
actually, go for just black phantoms, the red eye's don't bother my betta but they seem to bully the phantoms a bit. and, I think the phantoms are better looking anyways.
