New Fish Question

i just bought 3 fancy guppies (2 pregnant females and a male) and put them in my tank and since i've put them in the do nothing but stay at the top. they won't go down to the plants and what-not unless they're chasing food, and even then they come right back up. is this normal? also if a female is pregnant (very far along) when you see the black spot which is the babies, if they're aborted how can you tell, will the black spot change?

I wouldn't worry just yet. The first time I bought some Guppies, they spent all of their time at the top third of the tank. It was a good two or three days before they started getting more adventurous.
