Hi,In my previous post i said that i was getting 2 4ft tanks.(4ftx2ftx2ft)I also have a 4ft tank that needs abit of repair(forgot about it lol).In the 2 big 4ft tanks i was thinking of a little community on the top and big fish on the bottom.I heard my tanks was about 120g?If so would i be able to keep a pair of oscars,2 fm's,1 sev and maybe a pleco.I definatly want oscars(albino and golden kind).Im just want to see if they will fit becuase i would look up what i would feed them and what i should get, filters, heaters etc.thanks

sorry i forgot about bala sharks.any of them?

My favourite apart from oscars are balas and blue acars.
People told me blue acaras are to much of a push over(baby).so i never mentioned it.
sorry for so many posts :/ .

I wouldn't put more than one Oscar in each tank, even if they are both female. Full grown they will get agressive towards any other "competition" for territory. True, the Oscar is not as agressive as other such as JD's and GT's but they are still cichlids and depending on the personality of the fish, can be quite agressive towards of their kind still.

If you want a breeding pair, you could have them in one tank. But you have to make sure they are a breeding pair. Buy about 6 young Oscars and have them for a little while. If you see two swimming around together then they could be a possible pair. When they get older they might even spawn. But as with any type of cichlid, one day things could all change and the fish could begin attacking eachother. Because of this you should have a back-up plan: ie, either an extra empty tank to put one of the fish in, or a friend who can take one of the fish, or at the least an lfs that will buy one the fish back from you.

If you have a pair, then prob the only tank mates I would put with them would be a pleco as it is armored and won't cause much hastle to the pair. Even still, Oscars create alot of waste and so do plecos so if you have this then you will need alot of filtration and prob 2x a week water changes to keep up with the waste. So might be better to just have the pair.

Anyways, you can have a single Oscar with many other types of cichlids in a 120G. Just best to grow them both together as it reduces the risk of agression.

EDIT: Bout the Bala's, they need to be in schools, atleast 6+ and they can grow to 12" so 6 of them and an Oscar, usually around 14" full-grown is right at the limits if not too much so no more if go this route. And make sure you get the bala's first and let them grow some first as if they are small enough to fit into the Oscars mouth, it will eat them.

are you saying get 6 balas and get 1 oscar?that dont sound bad actualy.Would a pleco go in there with extra filtration?thanks.

Oscar, plec, and one other cichlid. A 4ft tank isn't big enough for balas. And certainly not big enough for two oscars, other cichlids AND a plec. Either a pair of oscars, or one oscar + one other large cichlid. No more ;)
