Hey, so after cutting my tanks down, i'm now waiting for my big tank to be built! I decided to go on the look out today for the fish I want to stock it with in order to grow them up a little before they go in there. I found a tank full of Labiobarbus festivus . I'd never seen them before and I remembered CFC mentioning them once and saying he had never seen them other than in books and pictures on the net.

So I came home, did a little research and went back out and bought them. I had a vauge idea of the care they need and size they reach but wanted to be sure. Im crap with photos so the only one I have is of them in the bag, so here it is.

I only asked for 3 but the guy threw another 1 in as I think he was impressed with my knowledge .

Thanks for looking!

Very nice, how much did you pay for them?

It was quiet difficult to get a definate answer on their size, theres not alot of info on the net from what I've seen, but they can get to around about 9-10".

:)

Im sure CFC will correct me if the info I read was wrong! :D

nice, make sure you have a good lid otherwise they will jump.

5.99 is a good price especially if there as big as they look.

They are about 3" each at the moment. And I got glass covers on the tank so they should be ok, the tanks were all open top at the LFS though.

It was the first time I'd ever been to this lfs, they had some nice fish, but they were renovating so the tanks were all over the place.

They had shovelnose (tiger >.<), snakeheads, puffers, cichlids..not too many 'normal' fish..which was a nice suprise, and they had 2 rays that looked like P. leopoldi, but when I questioned the guy about them he said they were something else..the name escapes me but It began with a 'H' £400 for the two, but they were reserved >.<

Thanks for the comments guys, i'll try grab some more pics later tonight when its darker.

EDIT - Henlei! I knew it would come back to me :D

£5.99 is a great price, i was expecting a price of at least double that. Baensch states an adult size of 8" .

Henlei ring a bell for the rays? They are very similiar with only a few differences. £400 for both sounds pretty good price!

Yeh whenever my work gets appollo sharks in there usually about 2" and cost about 7-8 each.

These arent appollo sharks, these are the very rare festive appollo shark Labiobarbus festivus
