Picked up a 3 Firemouths yesterday after giving my Tilipia Buttikoferi to the LFS.

Tank is 75gal.

So far so good in the tank with the Jack Dempsey. The Jack hasnt touched them once. Its just some what hard getting food to them.

I also plan on adding 2-3 pictus cats

Heres a new piece of drift wood i added also. Still workin on decorations and all.

Any suggestions comments welcome...

I would liked to see a nice closeup picture of your JD too, i believe your firemouths will be fine even though they are juvenile size in comparison to your JD. They are a lot more robust then they look sometimes.

That's one huge jd... I don't know if I'd try adding pictus cats with 3 firemouths and a JD.. might just run into territorial issues.

I know what u mean about tilapia.. I had to give mine to the LFS cause it was too mean to go with any of my fish.. it now lives in a 60g tank with 2 large red ear slider turtles..

yea. he is biiiig. I cant wait until all of his fins grow back and hes fully healed. Ill keep updates on him.

Im gonna try and make up some pretty good "terratories" so maybe the pictus will work.

The JD still hasnt touched the firemouths. he seems pretttty nice. Its funny, If the firemouths are all in one part of the tank the JD sloooowly swims over there. and all the firemouths swim to the other side. The JD is too dumb and slow to hurt anything.

My aunt is giving me her pictus is why i was going for pictus.

I picked up 1 more firemouth. I had ended up with 2 males and a female. So i grabbed another female. The males are all over the females...

i once had a large jack dempsey with 2 firemouths, 2 kribs and an upsidedown catfish. Didn,t know much about fish at the time, the JD was the most amazing fish. Extremely peaceful and use to feed out of my hand and jump out of the water to take the food before i even got my hand in there, i think the fish actually had a personality, but some individuals are'nt so amicable. That is one lovely big JD you've got there,BEAUTIFUL

Yea i can feed him cichlid sticks from my hand.

I always tell my friends to stick the tip their finger into there. and he bites them. its funny.

I love JD's, they are the greediest fish around, and yours will get back to full health, before long he wont be "slowly" swimming around the tank anymore, they are surprisingly fast fish.

Thx for posting the closeup of the JD.

greedy. yes extremely.

That dang fishe eats sooooo much.

o well. i like em'

Thanx for comments!

ah hes healed yp nicely.so they took ur tilapia back.well good.gives ya alot more room.nice firemouths

Thanx guys!

umm a lil help on decorations...

I just dont really know what i should do...

I think i wanna do some air stones on the right side behind the wood. And im going to move the wood a lil more center.

Id like to try some java fern on the end of the wood.

Im also thinking about going to the rock shop and getting some lace rock.

How should i go about decorating?!?!

edit: i wanna do a moonlight setup too. I have an extra 48inch ballast that i can use for this. Can i just buy one of those normal blue lights and replace the normal white/clear one?
