New Filter

I've just bought a new shark adv800 (800lph) filter and am going to run it alongside my existing filter in my established 30g for a while before removing the old filter - question is how long should i give it before taking the old one out?

A week or 2 should be enough. You could always just put a piece of the old media in the new filter for a while afterwards to make sure everythings stable.
