I have just fitted a new fuval U2 filter to my 60L tank. With the venturi valve attached, will I still need to have my air pump on? Or does the filter give me enough water agitation and oxygen in the water.
Thanks

Take away the airstone if you want, but keep an eye on the tank, if you see fish coming and "gasping" at the surface you need to put it back.
But if the new filter is rippling the surface you should be fine, unless you have a very deep tank with a small surface area.
(The ripples increase the surface area that gas exchange can take place.)

Can I just check - does the U2 replace another filter? if it does, have you transferred the media from the old filter, or run both filters for at least 6 weeks?

Bottled bacteria don't work instantly but if the tank has been running for a while there should be bacteria on all the surfaces. Keep an eye on the ammonia and nitrite levels till you are sure they are staying at zero. If they don't, you'll need to do water changes to get them down.
